This exhibition aims at
exploring the nature consciousness, in particular the experience of
nondual consciousness, described by many of the world's philosophies
& religions, such as Advaita Vedanta or Zen. Vedanta suggests that
consciousness is in essence a unified whole, peaceful, undivided &
limitless, the ground of life itself.
This body of work aims to reflect the
state of nondual awareness, conveying a sense of limitless space &
peace, not as qualities separate from the viewer, but as imminent. Qualities
that are part & parcel of consciousness itself.
My practice is based upon the conviction
that consciousness itself, our very Being-ness, is actually more beautiful
than any object of consciousness. This openness of Being, within which
life's many wonders take place, is perhaps the most amazing aspect of
life, and the defining feature of our humanity.
It is hoped that this work will inspire
one's own enquiry into the nature of awareness, so that then, as the
Buddha said of Nirvana, we realise our own consciousness as;
infinite & shining everywhere.
