Pasquale
Giardino is widely acknowledged as one of the founding members of the
Roar group that - when it was formed in 1982 - challenged the Melbourne
art establishment rejecting the traditional academic values.
This exhibition of new works at Metro 5 demonstrates his raw talent and extraordinary observation of seemingly everyday subject-matter, together with his interest in ancient mythology.
Pasquale paints with a genuine sense of urgency and his work represents the true essence of naïve art.
Society and nature are depicted side by side with his dynamic use of colour and his visual storytelling: the paintings in this exhibition are animated and humorous, yet simultaneously menacing and chaotic.
Pasquale's journey takes us beyond the banal into his colourful imitation of life.
