"My art is an interdisciplinary
practice, a hybrid
process which engages with many different
forms and outcomes including video and
photomedia.
I am interested in how
politics and mass media
gather, organise and filter the events of the
day. In Walter Lippmann's book titled, "Public
Opinion", he states the government and mass
media need to censor and filter information
because the real environment is altogether
too big, too complex and too fleeting for
direct acquaintance.
|
|
I am also interested in
the principle of
exchange and dependency theory of how
politics and the media do deals with each
other. The relationship between politics, mass
media and news broadcasting deny basic
civic rights and journalistic responsibilities to
be open and transparent to its public. This has
been the nexus of my latest series Chapters
From the Outside World.
I have been exhibiting nationally and
internationally for several years including
exhibitions in USA, Russia, China and the
UK. My work is included in several major
collections such as Artbank, Rhizome at New
Museum of Contemporary Art New York, QUT
Art Museum, KPMG, Queensland Health and
private collections.

Last year I spent several
months travelling
through Europe (Italy, France and The Czech
Republic) researching and documenting for
the Chapters series. I also participated as
the, "artist in residence" at the Beijing Film
Academy, China where I also took part in a
four person show highlighting Australian and
Chinese photomedia. I have been invited
back to China September 2007 to participate
in a residency at Platform China Art Institute in
Beijing.

My writing has been featured
in New York
Arts Magazine, in the book Pixel Surgeons by
Martin Dawber and Print Council of Australia.
I have presented numerous
academic
papers and public lectures nationally and
internationally including Art Basel Miami 2003
at Art+ Gallery.
The past two years I have
been working in
China as an artist and also as curator for the
International Digital Art touring exhibition
which I founded in 1999.

I have been invited by
Mr Li Xiang Ting
to develop an international program of
photomedia, video and new media for the
new Songzhuang Art museum Beijing. It will
be a great honour to work with Mr Li who was
featured on the cover of the New York Times
as the godfather of Chinese contemporary
art and considered a leading figure in
international art circles.
|
|
I have also been invited
by Hungarian
multimedia artist and film maker Istvan Horkay
to work with him on the second installment of
Peter Greenaway's Gold Series film project
which begins late 2007.
I will also spend some time working with
acclaimed Japanese artist and musician
Ryuji Enodkida on the Yokohama Art Project
presenting an annual new media exhibition
which will tour from Japan to China, Australia
and USA".
