Mina Young - "You've changed"

Sept 1st - Sept 19th

Mina's latest body of work on show at Metro 5 -'You've
Changed' - examines themes of trust and
vulnerability in individuals, and in the
broader context of various social situations.
This is achieved through a variety of measures
from the highly constructed through to the
documentation of real life scenarios.

These images comprise works made in public
and private spaces, inviting the viewer to
explore the intersection between real and
constructed experiences.

In her work, Mina explores themes relating to
the concept of trance and trance-like states as
access points to the unconscious.

She considers the methods involved in producing
these states in individuals and groups, and the
representation and attempted engenderment of
trance in popular culture.

Mina's more recent images have as their
underlying basis an investigation of fantasy and
its intersection with the fantastic. She finds the
medium of photography ideally suited to her use
due to its ambiguous relationship with 'reality'.
It is particularly suited for foregrounding disputed
territories of representation.
